Do you build the extension or just the brickwork?

We do the brickwork, not the whole extension. Your builder runs the job and holds the program, and we come in as the bricklaying trade to lay the block and brick inside that. If you do not have a builder yet, that is the first appointment rather than this one.

Can you match the brick on my existing house?

Yes, we match the brick on an existing house as closely as we can where the extension is staying face brick. On older houses the original is frequently out of production, so the nearest available is sourced, and plenty of extensions get rendered instead precisely to sidestep the matching problem.

Do you work directly with builders?

Yes, we work directly with builders and do a good deal of our work that way. Brickwork gets set out from your drawings and staged into your program.

Can you cut new openings into an existing wall?

Yes, we cut new window and door openings into existing brick walls. The wall above has to be propped and lintelled before anything comes out, which is most of the work and all of the reason it is not a job to take on yourself.

Do you do the render after the blockwork?

No, we do not render. Blockwork is finished ready for rendering or painting and your renderer takes it from there, which keeps the handover point clear for whoever is running the program.

How long does extension blockwork take?

Extension blockwork takes as long as the wall area, the openings and the tie-in allow, and on the trades either side being ready. You get a realistic run of days at quoting stage.

How much does extension blockwork cost?

The cost of extension blockwork is priced per job, because the tie-in to the existing structure moves it more than the new wall area does. Openings, lintels and matching into a house built to different levels are where the hours go. The variables are set out above.

Do you do garage conversions?

Yes, we do the blockwork on garage conversions. The garage door opening gets blocked up and the new walls built to suit whatever the space is becoming, then left ready for the render or cladding going over them. Your builder handles the rest of the conversion.

Do you charge for a quote?

No, we don’t charge for quotes on extension work. Send the drawings through and you get the brickwork scope and price in writing before anything is booked in.
